Finally someone steps up

It is about time SOMEONE acted like an damn advocate for the poor of this state. Cause that is who is on death row here and every other state in the county.

AP Wire 02/23/2006 Democratic lawmaker calls for death penalty moratorium: "ATLANTA - Executions would be put on hold in Georgia and a commission would study the state's use of the death penalty, under legislation introduced Thursday by a Democratic lawmaker.State Sen. Vincent Fort of Atlanta said the pair of bills is needed to ensure that the death penalty is applied fairly across race and income lines. A recent report by the American Bar Association raised questions about Georiga's death penalty. The moratorium isn't given much chance of succeeding. Republican leaders who control both chambers of the Legislature and Gov. Sonny Perdue have continued to endorse the death penalty, saying the appropriate checks and balances are already in place. Even prominent members of Fort's own party remain supporters."

It pisses me off to hear canidates and their supporters afraid of taking on the REAL issues of this state and country and getting all twisted and worrying about how "the voters" or the other party will paint them soft on crime by doing the right thing. Funny how they do not worry about supporting the status quo, even if it means killing some of "the voters", especially the poor brown ones.

Our "Christian" (wink, wink) Coalition in Georgia

As this link from John Sugg shows, the Christian right only functions in a vacuum. When they are exposed to others not like them (white) they always end up being exposed for what they really stand for.
