Funny ...or is it?
ajc.com | Metro | Political Insider:
"He admits that the CEO of a company that makes voting machines maybe shouldn't talk about delivering votes. Walden O'Dell, the chief executive of
Diebold Inc., is making the mea culpa rounds. Last week, O'Dell admitted he had indeed screwed up when he became heavily involved in fund-raising
for President Bush. Diebold is the Ohio company that makes Georgia's voting machines.
The company also was trying to market the computers to Ohio -- and has since won a place on that state's vendors list. In an invitation to a Republican
fund-raiser at his suburban Columbus mansion, O'Dell said he was 'committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes for the president next year.'
The reverberations were felt nationally by Diebold, which also is under attack by some who believe its voting machines are vulnerable to manipulation.
O'Dell says he intends to lower his political profile. 'I'm a pretty experienced business leader, but a real novice on the political side of this. This blindsided me.
I don't have a political adviser or a screener or a letter reviewer or any of that stuff,' he told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
O'Dell did point out that he has no daily involvement with Diebold's election-systems division, based in Texas, which is run by a registered Democrat."
