But all my Black employees just love me, or I'll fire 'em!
Burns' supporter is really a good guy!:
" ''I make one comment, and they say I am prejudiced?'' he asked. ''It was not politically correct. Half of my employees are black and they all love me.'' "
''Max is running scared. He's overreacting,'' Sommers said in a telephone interview Tuesday. ''Jesse Jackson told me one time, you never turn on your supporters. Max should have chewed me out good and proper, but that should have been the end of it,'' he added.

From another article:

I'm a Bubba- so I can say what I want
"I wasn't trying to knock anybody, just trying to get the people riled up," he said. "I am a southern Bubba. I am not a sophisticated Harvard person, and I am going to say the wrong things sometimes."

You know, hiding behind this ' I'm an un-educated bubba ' defense is bullshit. I know being a somewhat educated southerner. This is about him wanting to get his hands slapped so he can just forget about it. He goes on in these articles to say that he was just trying to get folks riled up. So, he is excusing his behavior for what he said as getting folks pumped up. Has anyone even bothered to tell him that the whole issue is really how folks like him use race to focus their supporters? This is not a slip of the tongue issue, but one of how the Republicans are using coded racial language to get across their message.
